Matthew Larsen is a current sophomore undergraduate student at Washington University. He is a psychological and brain sciences major. He has always been intrigued by the brain with a particular interest in neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease. He joined the Bateman lab in fall 2021, working on the SEABIRD project. Upon completion of his undergraduate studies, he plans to obtain an MD/PhD to conduct research in neuroscience and practice as a surgeon. Outside of the lab, Larsen is a member of the varsity swimming and diving team at WashU and is a counselor of the Camp Kesem organization. He was also selected to be a Washington University Student Associate helping first-year students with their transition to WashU.
